Aaah, Judas. Given all that angst, he’s the perfect guy for Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta  aka Lady Gaga

Gaga likes writing about the traps we set for ourselves. It’s natural for her to focus on love-hate relationships: say, between Judas and his Man and between a woman and her bad romance.

For this she is being damned to the hottest spot in hell, the one reserved for card-carrying spawn of Satan. (Now, there’s an album cover design for the ages!)

Public demand prompted organizers of Gaga’s concert to add an extra night. But “Christians” are protesting, citing danger to our souls and society.

The protesters say they will ask the Pasay City Mayor Antonio Calixto to cancel Gaga’s permit for Tuesday if she does anything “lewd” tonight.  Which makes me wonder: How many of our good brothers and sisters have volunteered to risk their souls by spying on the controversial artist? And, while at the business of salvation, have they tried to sniff out the oh-so-wholesome business that thrive in the bars dotting Calixto’s turf?

There’s plenty of talk about “role models”.

Members of the Bible Mode Youth said Lady Gaga’s songs are not appropriate for Filipinos. They also condemn her “almost naked” state of dress and ask Filipinos to boycott the concert. (abs-cbnnews.com)

Former Manila Congressman and founder of Biblemode International, Dr. Benny Abante Jr. moans:

Makikita namin, natin, na hindi lang ito an affront to our belief but it is obscene and very sensual po. At itong si Lady Gaga sinasabi niya that she is a prostitute at a famed hooker. Is that the kind of role model that we would like our young people to be?”

Former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza and lawyer Romulo Macalintal also filed a petition before Calixto for the concert permit to be revoked.

Considering at least two of these saintly gentlemen thought Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was the right role model for Filipino youth, it’s pretty hard to take them seriously. Ditto Abante, who probably thinks every song is a biography. And then there are our local so-called artists, who actually think there is nothing shameful about advising Gaga to change the lyrics of the controversial song.

Being a cooperative soul, I’m presenting these good people a list of 50 things and people more evil than Gaga. Should be enough for three lifetimes of caterwauling. If you can come up with anything else, feel free to comment:

From cnn.com

1) Massacres and warlords

Would-be saviors can 1) go to Muntinlupa and pray and fast until the Ampatuans get the justice they deserve, or 2) deck out in fatigues and rifles to hunt down Jovito Palparan – That should take up at least a decade.

2) Torturers

They can 1) pray Novenas to hasten the conviction of  this infamous cop who managed post-act to get a teaching job in the police academy, or 2) volunteer as counselors in the wildest, most wooly precincts in this country

3) Pedophiles

I’m half afraid to ask them to succor the victims. After all, most pedophiles were in change of the souls or minds of their prey. And last we checked, there’s a Benedictine priest wanted in the US being given protection by our holy ones.

4) Rapists

Of course, given that the pious ones think choice of outfit is a reason for mayhem, they might just legislate this as punishment for people who like wearing beach garb off the sands.

5) Traffic in women and children

In the realm of sin, Lady Gaga is a girl scout compared to those who abduct or mislead people and sell them to slavery. Maybe they can start scouring the fleshpots around Mayor Calixto’s city.

6) Plunderers

Then again, if some Bishops and evangelists think the source of charity isn’t important, we know what they’ll think of this…

7) Domestic abuse

Which, in many sermons, seem to rank lower than divorce or separation where sin is concerned…

8) Narco-trade

See source of charity and jueteng and government gambling schemes

9) Exploiters of workers

Catholic orders do not have a stellar record in respecting workers’ rights, do they? Lots of strikes in their schools, broadcast stations, etc…

10) Ignorance

Let’s start with people who screech like exorcists when they wouldn’t recognize the devil if he slapped them with his tail.

  1. You know what? I blame the media. Biblemode wasn’t and isn’t a big group after all; the news that someone was protesting Lady Gaga was juicy and controversial, and what was a small, almost insignificant grouping got their cause snowballed because some news editors thought it would liven up the ratings. Thanks, Philippine media, as usual, for asking all the wrong questions.

  2. “Considering at least two of these saintly gentlemen thought Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was the right role model for Filipino youth, it’s pretty hard to take them seriously.” Super like on this one. 🙂

  3. I feel sorry for people who think Filipinos need to be ‘shielded’ from the so-called evils in the world and wanting to revert back to the dark ages and the age of inquisition. Filipinos should feel insulted by the claims of some to be paragons of virtue because they think Filipinos need others to help discern what is appropriate and inappropriate. There is a thing called ‘preference.’ If I prefer one thing and I do not cause anyone grief, leave me be!

  4. Hi there, i truly agree that there much more horrendous things happening around us as have been listed down above (which is just a fraction).  All these have been prophesied in the Bible and what is called the Signs of the Times.  If you have a chance please read the book Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg.

It is also written in the Romans 3:23 that “..all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.  All people are guilty of sin and none on is earth who doesn’t.   But there’s a gift called the gift of God.. The Lord Jesus Christ who redeemed us from our sins past, present, and future!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 NASB)

But we must be very careful not to blaspheme the giver of Life.. Jesus.

“Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”- (Mark 3:28, 29 NASB)

Why do people blaspheme and worship other gods before Him when we have the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who saved us from all unrighteousness?  God said in Deut 5:9. “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..”

Lady Gaga is a devil worshipper and self proclaimed Satanist.  I just want evryone to be aware of this danger.

  5. Narrow minded!!! Since you said “more evil” you admit Lady Gaga is evil!!! What should we do, hmm… let all evil go unchecked and deal only with the Ampatuans. LOL. Or should it be try to deal with all evil, especially those that pose as a demonic model for all the filipino youths. No, that’s not right, according to this writer. Well, let those narrow minded be narrow minded. There is freedom of speech.

    • 🙂 There is evil in all of us. And then there is EVIL:) Thanks for dropping by! There is freedom of speech — and there are people who seek to curb that freedom. Railing at Gaga is no prob. Trying to stop Gaga from her form of expression is a different story 🙂 ‘you have a good one!

    • Actually, people don’t mind contrarian beliefs… it’s when these lead to attempts to stop expression that people start resisting. (I personally believe and have always acted on the belief that all views are welcome here, even those that call mine into question). Thanks for dropping by!

  6. Music is business and gaga is in business. It so happen that her gimmicks & antics are repugnant to people like you – but to me and maybe a lot more people, there’s nothing wrong with Our Lady of Gaga. Its all music and the rest are antics. Most of the posters you made, like the ampatuan’s victims, are not part of her gimmicks – they’re yours to dramatize your piece

      • Yes Inday – I just read in full your article and I still say the title itself “WHAT’S MORE EVIL THAN LADY GAGA?”, connotes that Lady Gaga is the epitome of all evils in the eyes of the clergy and all bible-reading netizens.

I don’t intend to argue more but suffice it to say I DISAGREE WITH THE TITLE

  7. There was a time that people followed the words of one man so blindly that they burned books, banned and destroyed the works of several prominent artists of the time and believed that they were tasked by God to purge the world of everything tainted and inferior to them,The Master Race. Sometimes I think the inmates who run the asylum called The Government are pocket dictators in their own mind. The former MMDA chairman thought himself as the good version of Adolf Hitler, where did it land him? People are not the mindless automatons they perceive us to be. Even children can see good and evil without any pretense. We are born of free thought and will, if they don’t like our pie we don’t force them to eat it.There are bigger issues in the world, and it does not revolve around Lady Gaga.

  8. i agree with this article, 1 gaga is has never said she is a satanist. If she was why does she help people, ad truily care about them? 2. Why does she give relationship advise to her fans? 3. Why does she have her own foundation to help bullied kids? People are just over reacting. The song “Judas” is not about judas himself, it is a metaphor. GO TO SCHOOL PEOPLE!! Also, everyone sinned, but in Gods eye hypocrites are worse than people sining and not knowing.

    • Thanks for visiting!! Yes, i forgot about the foundation. Unfortunately, some bullies do their thing precisely because they believe OTHERS Need to be drummed off from playgrounds and school parks … and the world. 🙂

  9. Nice angle, Inday! I was also prompted to write about this brouhaha, but on a more popculture slant naman hehe. Interesting times, ‘no? 🙂

  10. Sadly, most people prefer to keep around groping around with their eyes closed. It’s their perfect life; to be led by a blind person. Even though some of us try to help them see the light, our efforts sometimes become unappreciated or these people turn ungrateful towards us, as they prefer to stay in their own little worlds. That certainly has to change and it should start with all of us. I’m on neutral ground here, but what I’m trying to say is, all of the items stated in this article are perfectly true. I’d add more to the list, but I’m a bit short on thoughts right now. 🙂
